In 2018, he was selected for the list of "100 Outstanding Private Entrepreneurs in 40 Years of Reform and Opening Up" by the Central United Front Work Department and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. In September 1991, Huawei rented the third floor of the Haoyecun Industrial Building in Bao'an County, Shenzhen, as a place to develop program-controlled switches.
